Today is 42 years. Thank you for all the blessings Today is 42 years. Thank you for all the blessings and reflections - It warms my heart to hear from people from my past, people from across the world… wishing the best for my life, for my family. Thank you thank you thank you. It really does mean so much. I wanted to take a moment to share a peek into my world. We live in the midst of a million acres of wilderness in the north woods of Minnesota. I cried the first time we drove out to our rental home 3 years ago because I have never lived so far from… well, everything. It’s cold, it’s quiet and it’s magnificent. Clean water as far as the eye can see and trees who are master teachers towering above. I can breathe here. This place has changed me, held me and made me stronger as our family walked through a very challenging and scary time fraught with sickness and heartbreak. I’m a new person because of it all. Awake to more facets of life and grateful for it. Reveling in the preciousness of health and community and the sacred journey of the soul. We made it here and I give thanks that our daughter is healing and growing and brilliant and wise and hilarious. An artist and a teacher. A leftie. Stubborn and strong and laughing and resilient. She shows me every day where I can grow and I love her for that. I have a husband who adores me and believes in me and has my back in ways I could have only dreamed… but I must have dreamed it and the hard work is worth it because here we are… building a home together in this big forest! Thank you Nick for your endless love and for holding that vision of our sacred and beautiful life, for your wisdom and understanding and your hard work. Thank you for so much selfless hard work for our family… that you somehow do with a gentleness and a smile. I love you dearly. We’re building a timber frame, made in the old ways… He’s been practicing this art for over a decade and now it’s time to build our home and I’m joining in. I have put all my other work aside to take this year to wield sanders and power tools, frame walls and even chainsaw trees (which I actually do kind of love to do, haha). I add organic olive oil to make it spreadable and I add organic essential oils to some because mmmm… my current favorite is 50/50 tallow/castor oil. Omg it’s the only thing I want to use. Some people have said it’s the only things that has helped their skin issues!
